Special Grant Projects

The following Wilderness Science Center special projects have been funded through grants from the Blue Valley Educational Foundation (external link).

Grant Projects
GLOBE Expansion
Blue Valley Middle
Sandy Fitzwater, Denise Morrison, & Doug Banker
Equipment will be provided so that all students can have hands-on experience gathering and analyzing data for atmospheric studies. Students will communicate with scientists around the world.


Herbarium and Tree Survey
Blue Valley High/ Blue Valley Northwest
Harry McDonald & Jeremy Mohn
A permanent network of transect markers will be developed and used in a long-term study of tree succession at the WSC. Students will collect, identify and preserve one sample of each specimen at the WSC. Samples will be permanently available for all students to study.


Virtual Tour of the WSC
Blue Valley North
Eric Kessler
Funds for this grant helped design and develop a virtual tour of the Wilderness Science Center using 360° graphic imaging photos and a website designed by the students.
